Role Purpose:
The Child Care Worker/Educator is responsible for supporting the care, learning, and development of children through age-appropriate educational and recreational activities. The role ensures children’s physical wellbeing, emotional security, social development, and daily routine management within a safe and inclusive early learning environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver recreational and educational activities appropriate to children’s age and developmental needs
- Develop and organize learning materials, resources, and equipment required for daily activities
- Lead and supervise children during indoor and outdoor learning and play activities
- Monitor children’s behavior, interactions, and engagement to support social and emotional development
- Read stories, poems, and books to children to support literacy and language development
- Engage children in games and group activities that promote cooperation and positive social behavior
- Maintain daily routines, schedules, and activity sequences for children
- Assist with children’s personal care, including hygiene practices and cleanliness
- Ensure children’s health, safety, and wellbeing at all times in accordance with center policies and procedures
- Support children in developing independence, confidence, and positive social skills
- Observe and report on children’s progress, behavior, and wellbeing to senior educators as required
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming learning environment
- Comply with all workplace health and safety, child protection, and regulatory requirements
Qualifications and Experience:
- AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or
- AQF Certificate IV, or at least three years of relevant work experience
- OR AQF Certificate II or III, or at least one year of relevant experience
- In some cases, relevant experience and/or additional on-the-job training may be required in addition to formal qualifications
- Registration or licensing may be required in accordance with regulatory standards
Salary - $65,000 – $85,000 per annum plus superannuation
