About the Role
***This is a full time position - Please only apply if you can work a minimum of 4 days a week including possible Saturday work, ideally 5 days**
Homecraft Textiles — St James and Osborne Park — is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic person to join our team as a Retail Sales Assistant / Online Order Processor / Store Person.
This role would be especially suited to someone with an interest in sewing, dressmaking, quilting, craft, curtains, upholstery, or textiles. You do not need to be an expert, but some fabric or sewing knowledge would be highly valued, as many of our customers are looking for practical advice and guidance.

As a Team Member, you will:
- Assist customers in-store with fabric selection, sewing-related queries, and general purchases.
- Help customers understand suitable fabrics for different uses such as clothing, curtains, upholstery, craft, costumes, and home décor.
- Measure, cut, fold, and prepare fabric orders.
- Perform general POS duties.
- Process and package online orders.
- Assist with stock management, re-stocking, and warehouse transfers.
- Provide customer service support in-store, by phone, and online.
- Work with the team to meet customer needs and achieve sales targets.
- Maintain store presentation and general housekeeping.
About You
You are friendly, reliable, and enjoy helping customers. You may have experience with sewing, dressmaking, quilting, alterations, curtains, craft, or simply a strong interest in fabrics and textiles.
You enjoy working in a busy retail environment, solving customer problems, and learning about different fabric types and their uses.
Ideally, you will bring:
- A genuine interest in fabrics, sewing, textiles, or home décor.
- Some knowledge of sewing, dressmaking, quilting, curtains, upholstery, or craft.
- Confidence assisting customers and giving practical, helpful advice.
- Strong communication skills and a friendly, professional manner.
- Good attention to detail when measuring, cutting, and preparing fabric.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Reliability and a proactive work ethic.
- The ability to handle stock and perform manual lifting safely.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Basic computer literacy and confidence using POS and online ordering systems.
- Flexibility to work weekends if desired.
Previous retail or customer service experience is helpful, but the right attitude and a genuine interest in fabrics are just as important.
