Operations Manager – Sydney Region (Corporate Stores)

As we continue to expand, we are seeking an experienced and driven Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of up to five corporate-owned stores across the Sydney region.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys being in-store, developing people, driving financial performance, and ensuring every location consistently delivers the XS Espresso experience.
About the Role
Reporting to senior leadership, you will take ownership of the operational performance of your region by working closely with Store Managers and their teams. You will lead from the front, spending the majority of your time in-store coaching teams, solving operational challenges, improving performance, and ensuring every café operates to the highest standards.
You will be responsible for driving sales, profitability, team engagement, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence across all locations while ensuring every store reflects the XS Espresso brand.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operations of up to six corporate-owned cafés across the Sydney region.
- Maintain a strong hands-on presence in stores, providing leadership, coaching, and operational support.
- Recruit, onboard, mentor, and develop Store Managers and team members.
- Build and maintain a positive, high-performing team culture focused on accountability, communication, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor and improve financial performance, including sales growth, labour costs, food costs (COGS), and overall profitability.
- Analyse business performance and implement strategies to achieve operational and financial targets.
- Ensure every store consistently delivers exceptional customer service, food quality, coffee standards, cleanliness, and presentation.
- Conduct regular operational audits and implement action plans to improve performance.
- Manage performance reviews, succession planning, and employee development.
- Oversee maintenance and facilities management across all stores, ensuring equipment, assets, and buildings are maintained to a high standard.
- Coordinate repairs, preventative maintenance, and contractor relationships to minimise operational disruption.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, food safety requirements, workplace health and safety, and employment legislation.
- Support new store openings, refurbishments, and operational readiness.
About You
You are a passionate hospitality leader who enjoys developing people and improving business performance. You are organised, commercially minded, and confident making decisions in a fast-paced environment.
You will have:
- Previous experience as an Operations Manager, Area Manager, or Multi-Site Manager within hospitality.
- Proven experience managing multiple high-volume venues.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, coach, and develop teams.
- Experience in recruitment, performance management, coaching, and succession planning.
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to manage labour, food costs, budgets, and profitability.
- A proactive, hands-on leadership style with a willingness to lead from the front.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience managing maintenance, facilities, and contractor relationships.
- A current driver's licence and willingness to travel across the Sydney region.
