Context:
The Role
We are seeking an experienced and technically confident Structural Engineer to join our Buildings team on a permanent, full-time basis in Adelaide.
This role is ideally suited to an engineer with approximately seven years of professional experience who enjoys being a hands-on technical contributor and is motivated by delivering high-quality structural designs across a diverse portfolio of building projects. You will play a key role in the analysis, design, documentation, and delivery of medium to high-rise buildings, working closely with clients, architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
This position is primarily technical in nature and is focused on project delivery. You will be supported by experienced senior leaders and will have the opportunity to build technical expertise, develop client relationships, and mentor junior engineers while contributing to some of Australia's most significant building projects.
Missions/Main Duties:
Key responsibilities will include:

Undertake structural analysis, design, and documentation for a wide range of building projects, including commercial, residential, education, health, mixed-use, and public infrastructure developments.

Lead the delivery of structural packages for medium to high-rise reinforced concrete and structural steel framed buildings.

Prepare and review concept, schematic, detailed design, and construction documentation.

Develop practical, efficient, and buildable structural solutions that balance technical excellence, construction methodology, and project constraints.

Perform detailed structural modelling and analysis using ETABS, RAPT, SpaceGass, and other industry-standard software.

Prepare design calculations, technical reports, specifications, and engineering assessments.

Coordinate structural designs with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to achieve integrated project outcomes.

Attend client meetings and participate as a key member of project delivery teams.

Provide technical guidance and mentoring to graduate and developing engineers.

Review drawings, calculations, and deliverables to ensure technical quality and compliance with project requirements.

Undertake site inspections and construction-stage services, providing engineering advice and responding to contractor queries.

Collaborate with colleagues across BG&E's national Buildings team to deliver projects efficiently and consistently.

Apply project management principles in carrying out assigned tasks and meeting project budgets, programmes, and quality objectives.

Maintain an up-to-date understanding of Australian Standards, design codes, and emerging industry practices.
Profile/Skills:
About You
You will be an experienced structural engineer who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges and taking ownership of project delivery.
To be successful in this role, you will have:

Bachelor of Engineering (Civil or Structural) or equivalent.

Approximately 7 years of experience in structural consulting and building design.

Demonstrated experience delivering medium to high-rise steel and concrete building projects.

Strong technical capability in structural analysis and design.

Proficiency in ETABS, RAM or RAPT, SpaceGass, IDEA StatiCa or Limcon. Proficiency in the following are not required but highly regarded: SAFE, SAP2000, Strand7, STAAD.Pro,

Sound knowledge of Australian Standards including AS 1170, AS 3600, AS 4100, and related design codes.

Experience preparing and reviewing structural calculations, reports, and design documentation.

Confidence participating in client meetings and representing the structural discipline within project teams.

Strong communication and coordination skills with the ability to work effectively with architects, builders, developers, and other consultants.

A proactive, hands-on "doer" mentality with a willingness to take ownership and deliver outcomes.

A commitment to technical excellence, continuous learning, and collaborative project delivery.

Progress toward Chartered status, or Chartered Engineer accreditation, will be highly regarded.
