The Opportunity
We have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Bid/Estimating Manager to join our Western Australia Mining & Industrial Services (MIS) team.
Based in Perth and working across our WA operations, you will play a pivotal role in driving the work pipeline of Ahrens WA by performing our end-to-end bid and estimating functions. This is a high-impact position for someone who thrives on winning work by applying their technical competence, innovative solutions, and strong industry relationships.
About You
You are a proven bid and estimating professional with a track record of winning work in mining, construction, engineering, or heavy industrial services. You bring strong commercial acumen, excellent communication skills, and the ability to coordinate multiple concurrent deadlines across dispersed teams.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Lead end-to-end bid and tender management across mining and industrial projects, including bid/no-bid analysis, strategy development, win themes, and submission compliance.
- Manage the full estimating lifecycle — from initial scope assessment and conceptual budgeting through to final pricing review — ensuring accuracy and competitiveness at every stage.
- Develop technical solutions and evaluate construction/design options to deliver the most cost-effective outcomes for Ahrens and best value for clients.
- Source and review competitive subcontractor and supplier quotations, with detailed analysis of proposals to confirm scope and project requirements are met.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers, supporting contract negotiations and attending pre- and post-contract meetings as required.
Collaborate closely with operations, engineering, and project management teams to ensure seamless tender handovers and that project managers are fully briefed on contractual conditions.

Essential Criteria
- Proven end-to-end bid management experience in mining, construction, engineering, or industrial services
- Estimating experience across similar sectors, with strong cost modelling and pricing ability
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and negotiation skills
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities
- Strong attention to detail and analytical ability
- Proficient in computerised estimating packages and Microsoft Office suite
Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively across multiple remote WA locations

Desirable Criteria
- Tertiary qualifications in engineering, business, quantity surveying, or a related field
- Broad experience across WA mining and heavy industrial sectors
- Knowledge of SMP, Civil, and project execution processes
- Background in project or construction management
Strong contract management and commercial background
