Alya is seeking experienced and compassionate Disability Support Workers to join the support team of a middle-aged woman living with Parkinson’s disease in the Logan area.
We are looking for reliable workers who can provide practical day-to-day assistance while supporting the participant to maintain her independence, confidence, choice and connection with her community.
We are particularly interested in workers who are confident providing mobility assistance, personal care and daily living support while encouraging the participant to remain as independent as possible.
About the Role
Your role will be to provide consistent, person-centred support that adapts to the participant’s needs and abilities.
Your shifts may include:
- Supporting personal care and daily living activities
- Providing safe and respectful mobility assistance
- Supporting transfers and movement around the home and community
- Encouraging independence with everyday tasks and routines
- Assistance with meal preparation and household activities
- Community access, shopping, appointments and social activities
- Supporting the participant to remain active and engaged in her community
- Providing companionship and emotional support
- Recognising and responding to changes in mobility, presentation or support needs
- Following individual support plans and established routines
- Completing clear and accurate shift documentation
- Communicating effectively with the participant and her wider support team
Who We're Looking For
We’re looking for workers who are patient, attentive and confident providing physical support, while understanding the importance of allowing someone the time and opportunity to do as much for themselves as possible.
You may be a great fit if you:
- Have previous experience in disability, aged care or community support
- Have experience supporting people with Parkinson’s disease, neurological conditions or physical disability
- Are confident providing personal care and mobility assistance
- Understand safe manual handling and transfer techniques
- Are observant and able to recognise changes in a participant’s presentation or abilities
- Are patient and understand that some everyday activities may require additional time
- Can encourage independence without rushing or taking over
- Have a warm, respectful and person-centred approach
- Are reliable and committed to providing consistent support
- Have strong communication and documentation skills
Essential Requirements
- NDIS Worker Screening clearance
- QLD Blue Card
- Current Australian driver’s licence
- Reliable vehicle and comprehensive car insurance
