About the role
As a Geotechnical Technician, you will provide essential support to the Underground Geotechnical Engineering team by undertaking field-based monitoring, instrumentation maintenance, data management, and quality assurance activities that contribute to the safe and efficient operation of the mine.
Please note: This is a permanent opportunity- 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth
Key Responsibilities
Maintain, install, and monitor underground geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring systems.
Collect, download, process, and maintain geotechnical monitoring data and databases.
Monitor seismic system health and report issues to the Geotechnical team.
Conduct QA/QC inspections of ground support installations and support elements.
Perform routine underground inspections to identify signs of ground movement, damage, or support deterioration.
Assist with geotechnical projects, including core logging, sampling, testing, and bolt pull-testing activities.
Set up, arm, and download blast monitoring equipment as required.
Complete LiDAR scanning activities and assist with deformation monitoring and reporting.
Monitor underground water levels and support the preparation of water storage reports.
Manage geotechnical equipment and consumable stock levels to ensure uninterrupted mining activities.

Telfer is a long-life gold-copper mine in the Paterson Province of Western Australia’s East Pilbara region. The operation includes both open-pit and underground mining and Australia’s third-largest gold-copper processing facility. Since commencing production in 1975, Telfer has produced over 15 million ounces of gold. The site operates on a fly-in fly-out basis and offers a wide range of onsite recreational facilities to support workforce wellbeing.
