We are looking for an experienced Accounts and Payroll officer to join our team in either our Townsville or Cairns office. This diverse and rewarding role offers the opportunity to support our Finance team while working across accounts administration, payroll support, bookkeeping, purchasing and general business administration.
Based in either Townsville or Cairns, you'll work closely with our Finance team while also supporting our Townsville workshop through effective communication and collaboration. You'll play an important role in ensuring financial and administrative processes are completed accurately, efficiently and on time.
As our Accounts and Payroll Officer, you'll provide essential support across a range of finance and administration functions while building strong working relationships across the business.
- Be Responsible for day-to-day bookkeeping functions, including bank reconciliations, journals and general ledger assistance.
- Be Responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring financial data is entered and reconciled in a timely manner.
- Be Responsible for Accounts Receivable functions, working alongside the Accounts Payable Officer.
- Maintain supplier and customer records, including supplier and client onboarding and data management.
- Monitor and maintain the accuracy of financial documentation and records.
- Provide payroll administration support, including payroll data entry and processing.
- Work alongside the Payroll Officer while undertaking training to become a competent payroll backup.
- Maintain payroll records and supporting documentation.
- Be responsible for purchase order processing and supplier administration.
- Assist with job costing and project-related financial administration.
- Provide general administrative support to the Finance team.
- Provide administrative support to the Townsville workshop while working collaboratively with the Cairns Finance team.
- Assist with other finance and administration duties as required.

We're looking for someone who is organised, proactive and enjoys working across both finance and administration.
To be successful you will have:
- Demonstrated experience as a Bookkeeper, Finance Officer or in a similar finance administration role.
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles, including bank reconciliations, journals and general ledger functions.
- Experience with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- High attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A willingness to learn payroll systems and processes.
- Experience using accounting and payroll software.
- Experience with job or project-specific booking, Including the use of job numbers.
- Previous experience in construction, mining or a project-based environment.
