About the Role
We are seeking an experienced permanent part-time Senior Payroll Officer to take ownership of the end-to-end payroll and remuneration administration for our School community.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role is pivotal in ensuring the accurate and compliant delivery of payroll services, while supporting the broader Business Office operations. You will be an integral member of a collaborative Business Office team, which includes Finance, People & Culture, Risk & Compliance, IT, and Facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Processing & Administration

Manage the end-to-end monthly payroll process, including periodical payroll runs

Maintain accurate payroll records in Synergetic for all employees

Ensure all staff payroll variations are processed in a timely manner

Process and validate timesheets, ensuring appropriate approvals

Coordinate casual payroll processing

Provide payroll, staffing and FTE analysis

Support end-of-financial year payroll processes and STP finalisation
- Assist with audit requirements
Employee Records & Entitlements

Maintain and update personnel and payroll records

Administer employee leave entitlements

Reconcile and report on accrued leave balances
Reconciliations & Compliance

Prepare payroll journals and bank files for approval

Reconcile superannuation and submit contributions via clearinghouse

Reconcile payroll deductions, salary sacrifice arrangements, and general ledger accounts

Support payroll tax and Workcover reconciliations and submissions

Assist with FBT reporting and compliance
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring:

Proven experience in end-to-end payroll processing

Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, superannuation, STP, and compliance requirements

Experience with school awards or enterprise agreements is highly regarded

Proficiency in payroll systems (Synergetic)

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

Strong reconciliation and analytic skills

Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
-
High level of discretion, confidentiality and professionalism
