Entry Level | Lottie Lane Coffee Roasters
2–3 days per week | Moonah, Tasmania
Opportunity for more hours in the future
Want to get into the coffee industry or expand your current coffee experience?
We’re looking for a happy, hands-on person to join the team at Lottie Lane Coffee Roasters.
This is an entry-level roastery position, so you don’t need previous roasting experience. What we’re looking for is someone who is curious, physically fit, reliable, enjoys working with their hands and genuinely wants to learn.
You’ll work closely alongside our Roastery Manager, learning the day-to-day operation of a working specialty coffee roastery — from green coffee and production through to packing, quality control and roasting.
You’ll also get to know the cafés, businesses and people that make up the Lottie Lane community, and see the journey our coffee takes from the roastery through to the cup.
What you’ll be doing
- Working alongside our Roastery Manager
- Assisting with daily coffee production
- Weighing, packing and preparing coffee
- Preparing wholesale and online orders
- Learning about green coffee, roasting and quality control
- Keeping the roastery clean, organised and running smoothly
- Getting to know our wholesale customers and the wider Lottie Lane community
- Helping wherever the team needs you
Roastery work is physical, so you’ll need to be physically fit and comfortable lifting, moving and being on your feet throughout the day.
Who we’re looking for
More than anything, we’re looking for the right person.
Someone who is happy, reliable and curious.
Someone who likes getting stuck in and working with their hands.
Someone who takes pride in doing things properly.
Someone who works well independently and as part of a small team.
Someone who enjoys meeting people and becoming part of a community.
And someone who genuinely wants to learn about coffee.
Previous roasting experience isn’t required — we’ll teach you.
The opportunity
This position is currently 2–3 days per week in the roastery, with the opportunity for additional hours and growth in the future for the right person.
There is also the opportunity for an additional two days per week working as a barista for someone with the right experience.
To be considered for these additional barista shifts, you must already be an experienced barista with experience working in a café using at least 5kg of coffee per day.
These are not trainee barista shifts — previous barista experience is essential for the additional two days.
Whether you’re looking to get your start in the coffee industry or you already have coffee experience and want to take the next step into the world of roasting, this is an opportunity to learn, develop your skills and grow with Lottie Lane.
