The Baytree by Ardency is a premium retirement Resort located in Greenwich that has paved the way for a unique retirement experience which combines the very best in independent living with the premium amenities you would expect from a boutique hotel.
We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Chef to join our dynamic team on a Casual basis.
You will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional dining experiences to our valued residents and have the opportunity to create delicious, well-balanced meals that cater to the unique dietary needs and preferences of our residents.
Reporting to the Senior Chef, your duties will include;
- Support the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, including food preparation, meal service, dishwashing, and maintaining a clean and organised work environment.
- Assist in the efficient management of kitchen operations, including stock ordering, inventory control, and minimising waste.
- Prepare and deliver high-quality catering for functions, events, and special occasions.
- Ensure compliance with all Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) policies, procedures, and food safety standards.
- Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to workplace health and safety regulations and best practices.
- Implement seasonal and approved menus while accommodating residents' dietary requirements, allergies, and personal preferences.
- Engage positively with residents to gather feedback on meal quality and dining experiences, using insights to continually improve menu offerings and service delivery.
- Work collaboratively with the broader team to deliver a high standard of food quality, presentation, and customer service.
- Assist in maintaining kitchen equipment and facilities to ensure cleanliness, functionality, and compliance with regulatory standards.
About the Restaurant:
- Work in a fast-paced, sit-down dining environment, delivering high-quality à la carte service on Friday and Saturday evenings.
- Focus on creating restaurant-quality meals, with no texture-modified food preparation required.
- Enjoy variety and professional growth through regularly changing menus that provide opportunities to expand and refine your culinary skills.
About you:
Your proactive, customer-focused approach and ability to work independently will be key to your success in this role. You will be a motivated and adaptable hospitality professional with excellent communication skills and a passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences. In addition, you will possess:
- A relevant Trade Certificate or Qualification in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent).
- Previous experience in a similar Chef or Cook role, ideally within à la carte, hospitality or a high-volume catering environment.
- Sound knowledge of dietary requirements, allergies, and special nutritional needs, with the ability to adapt menus and recipes accordingly.
- A genuine passion for creating high-quality, restaurant-standard dishes and a willingness to embrace new ingredients, techniques, and menu offerings.
- A strong commitment to food safety, hygiene, and quality standards.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to effectively manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- A positive, proactive attitude and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a genuine focus on customer service and resident satisfaction.
- A current First Aid and CPR Certificate, or the willingness to obtain.
