Disability Support Worker – Children & Autism

$38-43 per hour + super + penalty rates + kilometre reimbursement
Support children to build confidence, independence and community connections
We are seeking caring, reliable and engaging Disability Support Workers to provide one-to-one support to children with autism in their local community.
This is an active, community-based role focused on helping participants develop social skills, confidence and independence through enjoyable everyday experiences.
You may be supporting a child to visit a park, go for a walk, attend a community activity, explore a library or café, play games, engage with toys or participate in recreational outings.
The role does not involve personal care or medication administration.

About the role
As a Disability Support Worker, you will:
- Provide safe and engaging one-to-one support
- Assist children to participate in community and recreational activities
- Build rapport through play, shared interests and positive interactions
- Support participants to develop social skills, confidence and independence
- Follow individual support plans, routines and family instructions
- Transport participants to approved activities when required
- Communicate professionally with families and management
- Complete accurate progress notes and shift documentation
- Identify and report concerns, incidents or changes in participant needs
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality

About you

Previous experience supporting autistic children or people with disability is highly regarded.

Essential requirements
Applicants must have, or be prepared to obtain before commencing:
- Current NSW Working with Children Check
- National Police Check
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- Current unrestricted or suitable NSW driver licence
- Reliable, roadworthy and appropriately insured vehicle
- Comprehensive motor vehicle insurance
- Australian work rights
- Smartphone suitable for roster and shift documentation
- Two professional referees
You must also be willing to complete required worker orientation, induction and mandatory training.

We are particularly interested in applicants available for some combination of:
- Weekday afternoons
- After-school hours
- Evenings
- Saturdays
- Sundays
- School holidays
- Public holidays where required
