1. Approval to teach and demonstrated experience in supporting students with disability and additional learning and support needs.
2. Demonstrated understanding and application of inclusive education practices, including NCCD requirements, disability adjustments and personalised support planning.
3. Demonstrated ability to design, deliver and evaluate targeted learning and support interventions for students with diverse learning, behavioural, social and emotional needs.
4. Highly developed communication, interpersonal and organisational skills with demonstrated capacity to build collaborative partnerships.

The learning and support teacher provides direct and timely specialist assistance to students in mainstream classes with disability and their teachers. Their work emphasises:

evidence-based programs to assist students with additional learning and support needs.
Learning and support teachers use a collaborative and consultative approach so that students themselves and their parents and carers are actively involved in decision-making.
