Please note this role works from multiple locations across Moira Shire and may be required to start work from various locations.
Responsibilities and Functions
Plant Operations
Operation of Plant and machinery efficiently and effectively to appropriate standards
Maintain all plant and equipment to operational standards and immediately advise the operations department if any plant is defective, faulty or breaks down, complete all relevant checks required regarding OH&S requirements.
Transaction / EFPTOS
Accurate recording of transactions and site activities and Recording of required information where applicable.
Processing charges via eftpos cashless system based on predetermined charges for waste disposal.
Ensure all records are stored and forwarded to management in a timely manner.
Ensure the correct charging for waste delivered to the site for residential, commercial or industrial waste disposal in line with Moira Shire Council policies, procedures on set fees and charges.
Team Work
Ensure discrimination free work environment in accordance with Council policies and procedures.
Undertake relevant vocational training as required.
Attendance and contribution at team meetings as required
Networking amongst other operators as required
Listening and sharing knowledge with others.
You will be required to work long periods on your own in remote areas.
Landfill/Transfer Station Operation
Ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the Council’s waste collection facilities,
Responsible for increasing the level of waste diversion and minimisation of material deposited into landfill and transfer stations, facilitating recycling and re-use,
Maintaining the Council’s transfer stations to required standards, and
To provide directions and advice to customers at Moira Shire Council Waste Transfer Station and plant operation where required by directing customers to designated recycling re-use and disposal areas and maintaining specific sites to required standards.
To maintain site appearance and operation off site in accordance with relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, codes of practice and best practice set by but not limited to Moira Shire Council, EPA, Ecorecycle Victoria and Work Safe.
Audit and maintain all sites in accordance with Council, Ecorecycle Victoria and EPA requirements, standards and licence conditions if applicable.
Actively participate in the ongoing improvement of Waste Management at the Transfer Station or Landfill in relation to plant operation.
Participate in the development of programs to enhance operations at Transfer Stations and Landfill in relation to plant operation
Attend all meetings relevant to, and as required in relation to Moira Shire Waste Management Operations.
Assist in the development of rehabilitation plans as required.
Responsible for the preparation and provision of accurate reports on the weight, volume and income of materials delivered to the Transfer Station including accurate monitoring of plant hours and maintenance checks as required.
Responsible for the coordination of bin transfers and collection of commingle recyclables where required.
Ensure adequate communication between other landfill and transfer station staff.
Monitor and supervise traffic management and signage.
Reconcile and account for cash on a daily basis and receipt all monies as required under Moira Shire Council policy and procedures.
Show discretion and control in allowing customer access to the site and, if appropriate refuse entry. Always act in the most appropriate manner possible following Moira Shire Council employee code of conduct, policies and procedures.
To ensure that all Council policies, initiatives and practices relating to customer service are adhered to in the working environment.
Assist in the resolution of customer complaints and provide advice to customers on matters pertaining to Waste Transfer Station operations and Landfill operation services as required.
Ensure that Council is positively represented and, when dealing with the community and customers, provide a high level of service.

Current Certificate(s) of Competency of Licence(s) in respect to other to other plant and equipment used by Council.
