Yarra Plenty Waves is looking for a Swim Coach to join our coaching team in Greensborough.
We’re a competitive swimming club with a 40-year history of helping swimmers develop from their early swimming years through to national-level racing. With Yarra Swim School and our club squads operating together, our coaches are part of a genuine long-term pathway for swimmers.
Our coaching philosophy is simple:
Develop the person. Develop the athlete. Performance will follow.
The role
Working with our Head Coach and Lead Development Coach, you’ll help deliver squad sessions and support swimmers to develop their technique, fitness, confidence and race skills.
You’ll have the opportunity to:
- deliver training sessions
- provide clear and useful feedback
- support swimmers at selected swim meets
- work with swimmers across different ages and abilities
- work across our squad pathway
- work alongside our coaching and Swim School teams
- develop your coaching skills and take on greater responsibility over time
We’re looking for someone who is reliable, positive, supportive and willing to learn. Coaching experience and qualifications are important, but so are attitude, communication and the ability to work well as part of a team.
When we train
- Monday to Sunday mornings, from approximately 5:45am (later start Sunday)
- Monday to Friday afternoons and evenings, between 4:00pm and 8:30pm depending on the program
- selected weekend sessions and swim meets
- flexible days and shifts based on your availability and program needs
What you need
- ASCTA Coach Accreditation or equivalent recognised swimming coaching qualification
- current Pool Lifeguard Award
- current CPR and First Aid
- valid Working with Children Check
- experience working with swimmers
- good communication and teamwork skills
- a supportive approach to working with swimmers and families
- willingness to continue learning and developing as a coach
