Powerhouse Museum is located at the intersection of arts, design, science, and technology and plays a critical role in engaging communities with contemporary ideas and issues. It is the custodian of more than half a million objects of national and international significance and is considered one of the finest and most diverse collections in Australia. We are undertaking a landmark $1.3 billion infrastructure renewal program, led by the creation of Powerhouse Parramatta; expanded research and public facilities at Powerhouse Castle Hill; the heritage revitalisation of the iconic Powerhouse Ultimo; and the ongoing operation of Sydney Observatory.
Academy and Residency Reservations Coordinator
Clerk Grade 5/6
Temporary, full time, up to 4 years
As our Academy & Residency Reservations Coordinator, you will be the person who ensures every booking is organised, every room is allocated, and every guest arrives knowing exactly what to expect.

As the primary point of contact for accommodation reservations, you'll work closely with schools, teachers, supervising adults and residency guests to coordinate every aspect of their stay before they arrive.
Your day will include:

Managing accommodation bookings and room allocations across student dormitories, teacher pods, accessible rooms and residency apartments.

Responding to booking enquiries via phone and email, providing timely, friendly and accurate information.

Maintaining reservation records across booking and event management systems, ensuring information is always current and accurate.

Coordinating accommodation schedules to support Academy programs and Residency activities.

Recording catering requirements and dietary information to support Food & Beverage operations.

Monitoring occupancy levels, identifying potential booking conflicts and working proactively to resolve them.

Collaborating with Guest Relations, Operations Coordinators and Duty Managers to ensure smooth arrivals, departures and guest experiences.

Stepping in to support the wider Academy & Residency Operations team during busy arrival and departure periods, including assisting front-of-house operations when required.

You'll be highly organised, confident juggling multiple priorities and comfortable communicating with a wide range of people. Whether you're speaking with a teacher coordinating a school excursion or working with internal teams to solve a last-minute accommodation change, you'll remain calm, professional and solutions focused.
