South Sydney High School is a comprehensive, co-educational high school with a strong learning culture, situated in Maroubra with an enrolment of 800 students. Care, Opportunity and Success underpins our philosophy, where our staff have high expectations of themselves and all students.
The school caters to the learning and wellbeing needs of a diverse socio-economic and multicultural community where 44% of our students have a language background other than English and 5% of students identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. 2027 sees the commencement of an Inclusive Learning Centre at South Sydney High School.
Co-curricular activities provide opportunities for students to excel and develop their talents. This includes: an extensive music program, a High Potential and Gifted Education Program and other enrichment opportunities for students. South Sydney High School works towards creating a framework that encompasses the broad range of curriculum requirements in each KLA and embeds quality teaching practices. Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with Autism, Emotion Disturbance (Secondary), Mild and Moderate Intellectual Disabilities (Secondary).
Demonstrated ability to design and successfully implement effective and engaging teaching and learning programs across multiple key learning areas to cater to a diverse range of student abilities in a support setting.
Strong organisational and interpersonal skills and demonstrated capacity to build positive, collaborative relationships with staff, students, parents/ carers and external providers.
Demonstrated successful classroom management with flexible and adaptive strategies that create a positive learning environment, promoting student wellbeing and authentic relationships.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
