The House of Honey is looking for a reliable and hardworking Farm Hand to join our award-winning agritourism business.
This is a unique split role with retail combines hands-on farm and production work with customer-facing retail duties. No two days are the same—you'll help maintain our property, assist with honey production, and provide outstanding customer service in our retail store.
The successful applicant will primarily work as a Farm Hand from Tuesday to Friday, with Retail Assistant shifts rostered as required, including weekends.
About the Role
Farm Hand Duties (Tuesday–Friday)
Packing Shed & Production
- Label, pack and prepare honey products (80g–1kg) for retail and wholesale.
- Assist with honey pouring, straining, filtering and decanting.
- Safely lift and move cartons, trays and equipment (up to 20kg).
- Maintain accurate batch records, stock rotation and product traceability.
- Pick, pack and dispatch online, wholesale and special event orders.
- Monitor packaging materials, labels and production consumables.
- Assist with seasonal honey extraction and processing.
- Support basic hive box assembly, repairs and maintenance.
- Assist with stocktakes, inventory control and data entry into the Vend point-of-sale system.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised packing shed, production area and tasting stations.
- Follow food safety, quality assurance and workplace health and safety procedures.
- Assist with other production and operational duties as required.
Retail Assistant Duties
- Provide exceptional customer service.
- Assist customers with honey, mead and gift purchases.
- Conduct honey tastings and product demonstrations.
- Replenish stock and maintain attractive merchandise displays.
- Operate the point-of-sale system.
- Assist with general housekeeping and presentation of the retail store.
- Support café and tourism operations when required.
About You
You will be:
- Reliable, self-motivated and physically fit.
- Comfortable working both outdoors and indoors.
- Friendly, approachable and customer focused.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible to work weekends as part of the retail roster.
- Willing to learn about beekeeping, honey production and agritourism.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in farm work, maintenance, production or a similar hands-on role (desirable).
- Previous retail or customer service experience (preferred).
- Current Driver's Licence.
- Ability to undertake manual handling and outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
- Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate, or willingness to obtain.
