In this role, you'll:
Be responsible for leading the development and implementation of risk and outcomes-based operational policies that reduce regulatory burden while enhancing safety, sustainability, and productivity across the freight network. This role plays a key part in delivering freight strategy ensuring regulatory compliance and improving supply chain performance across our organisation.
You will achieve this by:
Leading the development of operational policies that are outcomes and risk-based, designed to reduce red tape while supporting the safe, sustainable, and productive movement of freight across the network.
Fostering strong partnerships with transport agencies, industry stakeholders, and other jurisdictions to collaboratively identify challenges and develop harmonised policy approaches that improve national consistency and support a more efficient freight network.
Providing advice to delivery teams on the design and implementation of innovative, end-to-end policy solutions that integrate seamlessly into business and operational processes, ensuring freight considerations are embedded early and effectively in decision-making

This is a permanent opportunity. The role is a statewide hybrid role, and the location will be based on the candidate.
About you
This role will require:
- Significant ability to develop and implement policies that are risk-based, outcomes-driven, and aligned with regulatory best practice.
- Demonstrated experience working with industry, government agencies, and cross-jurisdictional partners to deliver harmonised and practical policy solutions.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to develop high-quality policy advice, briefings, and evaluation frameworks.
- Strategic, innovative approaches to solving complex problems that suit a range of competing stakeholder priorities.
- Experience in implementing structure change management processes.
- Skill in developing performance frameworks to monitor policy outcomes, with a strong understanding of continuous improvement and evidence-based evaluation
