About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Spatial Scientist to support the delivery of spatial data, GIS, mapping and analytical services across a diverse portfolio of projects.
This role will work closely with internal stakeholders to develop, manage and enhance spatial datasets, undertake advanced spatial analysis, and deliver high-quality mapping and reporting outcomes that support operational and strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and manage spatial databases and GIS systems.
- Perform spatial analysis, modelling and interpretation of geographic data.
- Prepare high-quality maps, visualisations and spatial reporting outputs.
- Collect, validate and maintain geospatial datasets from a range of sources.
- Provide technical advice on GIS and spatial data management practices.
- Support the development of spatial workflows and data governance frameworks.
- Work collaboratively with business stakeholders to identify and deliver spatial solutions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and the adoption of emerging geospatial technologies.
- Ensure the integrity, accuracy and security of spatial information assets.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- A tertiary qualification in Spatial Science, Geographic Information Systems, Geomatics, Geography, Environmental Science or a related discipline.
- At least three years' professional experience in GIS, spatial analysis or geospatial data management.
- Advanced proficiency with QGIS or ArcGIS products
- Experience managing, analysing and interpreting complex spatial datasets.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
- Experience with Python, SQL, FME or other geospatial technologies will be highly regarded.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
