We are looking for a passionate and reliable cook/kitchen hand to join our team at The Nook on Hopkins. This is a casual position with a minimum of 20 hours per week, and the opportunity to move into a permanent role for the right person.
About the Role:
As our cook, you’ll be responsible for preparing a variety of meals with care, consistency, and pride alongside with our head chef. Our kitchen is open to customers, so being clean, tidy, and hygienic always is essential. You'll be working closely with our friendly team to deliver quality food in a warm, welcoming environment.
What we’re looking for:
· Previous cooking experience in a café, restaurant, or similar setting is preferred – but we’re also happy to train someone with the right attitude and willingness to learn.
· A strong work ethic, reliability, and a positive attitude.
· Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
· Good communication and time management skills.
· A commitment to cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
· Prepare and cook menu items to order.
· Assist with prep, stock rotation, and maintaining a clean and organised kitchen.
· Ensure food is presented well and served promptly.
· Maintain high standards of hygiene, especially in our open kitchen environment.
· Collaborate with front-of-house staff and contribute to a positive, team-oriented atmosphere.
