GenusPlus Group is a rapidly growing ASX-listed organisation delivering end-to-end engineering, construction and maintenance services across the power, communications, environmental and infrastructure sectors.
Genus Services is entering its next phase of growth and is seeking an experienced Commercial & Pre Contracts Manager to help strengthen commercial discipline, tender governance and contract risk management across the division.
Reporting directly to the Executive General Manager – Genus Services, this newly created leadership role will work closely with operational leaders, estimating, finance, legal and business development teams to support the successful conversion of opportunities into commercially sound contracts and profitable project delivery outcomes.
This is a hands-on role suited to a commercially minded professional who enjoys working closely with operations, challenging assumptions, improving processes and influencing outcomes.
About the Role
The Commercial & Pre-Contracts Manager will play a key role in supporting three core operating pillars across Genus Services:
- Communications
- Asset Management
- Environmental & Vegetation Management
You will be responsible for improving tender governance, pricing discipline, contract risk management and bid-to-delivery handover processes across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead tender governance processes across Genus Services
- Establish and maintain bid/no-bid frameworks and tender review processes
- Support operational leaders in developing tender strategies and pricing positions
Review and challenge estimating assumptions, productivity rates and commercial models
- Review contracts and identify commercial risks and opportunities
- Support contract negotiations and commercial departures
- Assist operational teams with claims, variations and margin protection initiatives
- Support procurement and subcontractor commercial strategies
- Improve bid-to-delivery handover processes and governance
- Build strong relationships with operational, finance, legal and business development stakeholders
- Drive continuous improvement in commercial processes and pre-contract practices
About You
To be successful in this role you will bring:
- Significant experience in commercial, contracts, estimating, pre-contracts or project delivery environments
- Experience within infrastructure, utilities, construction, engineering or mining services sectors
- Strong commercial acumen and contract risk management capability
- Experience reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts
- Proven ability to influence senior operational stakeholders and challenge assumptions constructively
- Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills
- A practical, hands-on approach with a focus on delivering commercial outcomes
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Commerce, Law or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
