The Role

To assist in the day to day leading and management of the Early Learning Centre in a manner that shows

a professional commitment to children and their families, that is God honouring and consistent with the

school’s vision to provide a Christ-centred education in a learning community of Love, Nurture and Service.

The Educational Leader will lead and support ongoing critical reflection to ensure the programs and

practices continually meet the needs of children and ensure a high-quality Christian education is provided

to all children.

The Educational Leader / Assistant Director will collaborate with the ELC and wider school teams to

influence, inspire, motivate and support the teachers and educators in providing a Christian, authentic and

play based early childhood program.

The Assistant Director will take on responsibilities for the ELC when the Director is absent on leave.

The Educational Leader / Assistant Director is responsible to the Principal through the ELC Director.

This is a full-time ongoing position.

Faith Basis of Appointment

We see the appointment of staff to Trinity Christian School as a ministry calling.

The ethos, aims and objects of a Christian School are based on:

> acceptance of the Lordship of Christ; and

> acceptance of the Bible as the revealed Word of God.

Within Trinity Christian School these are expounded in the Doctrinal Basis.

The Doctrinal Basis does not exhaust the extent of the beliefs of the School and its members. The Bible

itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God, that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality,

and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that the School and its members

believe.

You must support the School in these areas and set an example of personal conduct and behaviour

consistent with the School’s beliefs and ethos as outlined in documents made available to prospective

employees prior to interview. Any appointment is conditional upon staff maintaining and demonstrating a

continuing firm personal belief and lifestyle consistent with the School’s Doctrinal Basis and the other

documents provided to staff, this being an essential condition of the appointment.

Key Areas of Responsibility
 Development and implementation of a dynamic and engaging Christian early learning program for

children in the ELC.

 Lead and make decisions in collaboration with the Nominated Supervisor (Director) and the ELC

team as required to ensure we provide an authentic Christian early childhood program for all

children enrolled at the ELC.

 Assist with the day-to-day management of the centre ensuring the centre meets all regulatory

requirements at all times.

 Assist with the day-to-day operations of the centre which may include rostering, ordering supplies,

policy development and implementation.

 Assist in planning and running team meetings to support the team to critically reflect on our

practices and to support our commitment to continuous improvement.

 Assist in the enrolment and orientation of new children, families and staff as required.

 Leading and engaging in reflective discussions about quality early childhood practice and

implementing the early Years Learning Framework.

 Plan and implement professional learning opportunities for the team and individual Teachers and

Educators through a collaborative consultation process.

 Overseeing the educational programs and supporting Teachers and Educators to engage

authentically, professionally and meaningfully with the program as they implement them.

 Establishing systems across the service to ensure there is continuity of learning when children

change room or attend other services, and with their transition to kindergarten.

 Assist with documenting, analysing and evaluation of children’s learning and consider how this can

inform future curriculum decision making.

 Establishing of positive partnerships with the children, families and the school and wider community.

 Actively contributing to a positive and professional team culture in the ELC and across the Trinity

School Community, always upholding the values of the school.

 Participation in other school activities as required.

Selection Criteria
 Be a committed Christian with a clear understanding of, and support for, education in a Christian

School setting.

 Have a genuine interest in the welfare of students and in their social, spiritual and academic

development.

 Demonstrate leadership skills to collaborate with the Nominated Supervisor (Director), the ELC team

and wider school community.

 Collaborate with Teachers and Educators to plan, implement and evaluate a developmentally

appropriate program for early childhood education.

 Have a thorough working knowledge of the National Quality Framework and the relevant early

childhood legislation and regulations which govern the provision of Early Learning Centre.

 Demonstrate the ability to work successfully as part of a team including the ability to critically reflect

on your practice and attitudes and how these affect the wider team culture.

 Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills to contribute to a positive and professional team culture.

 Demonstrate a growth mindset and a willingness to participate in ongoing professional development.

Essential Qualifications and Requirements

The successful applicant will have:

 A degree in Early Childhood Teaching (or equivalent)

 Proven experience in leadership in an Early Learning Centre or long day care centre

 Current First Aid Certificate

 Current Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) card

Employment Conditions

Employment will be subject to the conditions of the current ACT Christian School General Staff

Multi-Enterprise Agreement. The salary and classification for this position will be dependent on the

qualifications and experience of the successful applicant.
