Asmbl Fitouts & Joinery — Mitchell, ACT | Remote considered for the right candidate Pay: dependent on experience | Full-time, part-time, or contract considered
About Us
Asmbl is a Canberra-based joinery and cabinet making business producing high-quality custom cabinetry for residential and commercial clients. We run our workshop on Lean and 5S principles, and we're growing fast — which means our drafting needs are growing too. We're looking for someone who can take a brief or site measurements and turn it into clean, accurate, production-ready drawings without us having to chase it.
The Role
You'll be responsible for turning client briefs and site measurements into accurate cabinet designs, shop drawings, cut lists, and hardware schedules in Mozaik, ready to flow straight into our production and CNC workflow. You'll work closely with us on design intent and constraints, but you'll be trusted to run with the detail independently once a job's briefed in.
This role is genuinely flexible on location. If you're great at what you do and can communicate clearly and reliably online, we're open to fully remote — you don't need to be in Canberra.
What you'll be doing:
- Producing accurate cabinet designs and shop drawings in Mozaik from briefs, site measurements, or client requirements
- Generating cut lists, hardware schedules, and material requirements ready for production
- Checking drawings against site conditions and flagging issues before they hit the workshop floor
- Liaising with our team on design queries, clarifications, and revisions
- Keeping job files organised and up to date as designs change
- Looking for ways to tighten up our drafting process and catch errors before they cost us time or material
What We're Looking For
- Proven, hands-on experience with Mozaik specifically — this isn't a "happy to learn it" role, we need someone productive from day one
- Strong understanding of cabinet construction, joinery methods, and hardware (hinges, runners, fixings)
- Ability to read and interpret site measurements and architectural drawings accurately
- High attention to detail — drafting errors are expensive once they hit the CNC
- Comfortable working independently and communicating clearly and proactively, especially if working remotely
- Familiarity with Lean/continuous improvement thinking is a genuine plus — we want someone who notices when something in the process doesn't add up, not just someone who draws what they're told
What We Offer
- Pay based on experience and Mozaik proficiency — happy to discuss as part of the conversation
- Flexibility on hours and location for the right person
- Direct input into a growing, well-organised workshop rather than drafting in a vacuum
- Real say in how our drafting and design process develops as we scale
To Apply
Send your resume, details of your Mozaik experience, and a brief note about how you work best (in-office, remote, hybrid — whatever's true for you) to [email protected]. If you can include a sample of drafting work you're proud of, even better.
Pay: $58,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Mitchell ACT 2911
