Mini Masterminds Maintenance Officer / Professional Handyman
Mini Masterminds is a leading early childhood education provider committed to creating safe, nurturing and inspiring learning environments where every child can thrive. We are seeking a skilled, reliable and hands-on Maintenance Officer / Professional Handyman to join our team on a Full-Time basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with solid maintenance or handyman experience who enjoys variety, takes pride in their work and is comfortable working across multiple locations. You will support our network of Mini Masterminds centres throughout Greater Sydney Metro, helping keep our facilities, indoor and outdoor environments in excellent condition.
About the Role
As our Maintenance Officer / Professional Handyman, you will be responsible for responding to maintenance requests, completing repairs and carrying out general upkeep across our centres. You will work closely with Centre Directors to identify and prioritise maintenance needs, complete scheduled works and ensure issues are addressed efficiently. This is a mobile, hands-on position. A company van, tools, petrol and work phone will be provided.
You will receive an initial induction and training to familiarise you with our centres, processes and expectations. Once training is completed, you will be expected to manage your workload and carry out your duties independently with guidance from your direct manager.
Key Responsibilities

Carry out general repairs, maintenance and handyman tasks across our centres

Complete preventative and reactive maintenance

Perform basic carpentry, painting, patching, plumbing and general building repairs

Repair and maintain doors, locks, gates, shelving, fixtures, fittings and furniture

Assemble and install equipment and fixtures as required

Assist with outdoor areas and general grounds upkeep

Organise and coordinate subcontractors or suppliers as required

Respond to maintenance requests and prioritise jobs based on urgency

Identify potential hazards, maintenance issues and areas requiring attention

Maintain tools, equipment and the company vehicle in good working order

Keep maintenance areas and workspaces clean and organised

Liaise with your direct manager and Centre Directors regarding completed and outstanding works

Follow workplace health and safety requirements and Mini Masterminds policies and procedures

Arrange or escalate works requiring qualified tradespeople where necessary
About You
We are looking for someone who is:

Experienced in hands-on maintenance, handyman work, facilities maintenance or a similar field

Confident working independently once training and induction have been completed

Practical, resourceful and a natural problem solver

Organised and able to manage multiple tasks across different locations

Reliable, punctual and professional

Comfortable working around children, families and educators

Safety-conscious and attentive to detail

Physically capable of carrying out general maintenance duties

Comfortable travelling throughout Greater Sydney Metro

Someone who takes pride in maintaining clean, safe and well-presented environments

Understanding of compliance and safety requirements within childcare centres
Experience in early childhood, education, commercial facilities, property maintenance or a similar industry will be highly regarded.

Essential Requirements
-
Previous experience in a maintenance, handyman, facilities builder or similar role
-
Willing to obtain Paid Working With Children Check (WWCC)

Current Australian driver's licence

Ability and willingness to travel between Mini Masterminds centres across Greater Sydney Metro

Good understanding of workplace health and safety

Ability to work independently following initial training

Strong communication and organisational skills
