The Internal and External Committees section provides high-level support to the ACIC Board and National Policing Systems Subcommittee, for board member agencies, and internal and external governance committees.
The Assistant Director, Internal and External Committees plays a pivotal role in driving effective governance and collaboration across the agency’s internal and external committees. Your responsibilities will include coordinating high-level support to internal and external committees, providing strategic advice to senior executives and ensuring decision-making is well-supported with accurate briefing materials. You will be highly organised, able to adapt to a dynamic workload, comfortable working independently and as part of a team, operate effectively under pressure to meet deadlines, and preserve the confidentiality of sensitive information.
Role responsibilities
As an Assistant Director, you will:
- Provide high-level Secretariat support to internal and external committees, including the management and coordination of committee operations.
- Develop accurate and effective briefing materials to support the delivery of committee objectives and remit.
- Ensure adherence to appropriate internal secretariat processes and governance arrangements.
- Review, develop and update team standard operating procedures to ensure committee operations are transparent, repeatable and efficient, while also effectively supporting strategic governance outcomes.
- Lead and develop staff through training and coaching, performance feedback and career development.

- Citizenship – To be eligible for employment with the ACIC, applicants must be an Australian citizen.
- Security Clearance - The Australian community expects ACIC employees to maintain the highest levels of security and integrity. Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance.
