About the Opportunity
Cabonne Council has a permanent, full-time opportunity for a Town Planner to join our Development Services team.
As a Town Planner / Senior Town Planner, you will contribute to shaping the future of our community by delivering professional planning services. You’ll work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to assess and determine development applications, provide strategic planning input, and ensure projects align with statutory requirements and Council objectives. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working in a collaborative and supportive environment.

About You
This role is for a passionate Town Planner who wants to shape the future of Cabonne.
To be successful in this role, you will possess
- Bachelor or Urban and Regional Planning, or related field.
- Thorough understanding of NSW planning frameworks and legislation
- Class C driver’s licence.
- Construction Induction Certificate (White Card)
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to interpret and implement planning legislation.
- A minimum 12-month experience in NSW Local Government in a similar role, with a preference for experience in a rural/regional Council.
- High level written communication skills including the ability to write complex and/or technical reports in plain English.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills with a commitment to customer service and the ability to deal with demanding customers.
- Well- developed assessment and analytical skills.
- Ability to work autonomously on a range of simultaneous tasks and as part of a multidisciplinary team ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks.
- High level of computer literacy (including Microsoft Office, spreadsheets and geographical information systems.
Remuneration and Benefits
The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award 2026 and Cabonne Council’s policies and conditions of employment.
The Senior Town Planner position is graded 12 in Council's salary system with a gross weekly wage range of $2094.40 to $2255.50 dependant on qualifications and experience.
The Town Planner position is graded 8-9 in Council's salary system with a gross weekly wage range of $1541.60 to $1809.00dependant on qualifications and experience.
