The Opportunity
As Privacy Officer, you'll play an important role in supporting Ramsay Health Care Australia's ongoing compliance with privacy laws and regulations while helping to strengthen our organisation-wide privacy framework. Reporting to the Chief Privacy Officer, this hands-on mid-level privacy position offers the opportunity to work across a broad range of operational and strategic initiatives, partnering with stakeholders throughout the business to ensure privacy is embedded into the way we work.
You'll provide practical privacy advice on new projects and emerging technologies, support the management of privacy incidents and data breaches, conduct Privacy Impact Assessments (particularly for technology systems, applications and AI initiatives), contribute to policy development and continuous improvement, and deliver privacy training and education that builds capability across the organisation.
Working closely with teams across Digital, Cyber Security, Data Governance, Risk and Legal, you'll help ensure privacy considerations are integrated into projects from concept through to delivery while supporting Ramsay's commitment to protecting the personal information entrusted to us.
What you'll be doing
Reporting to the Chief Privacy Officer, you'll provide practical privacy advice across a broad range of business initiatives while helping to strengthen Ramsay's privacy framework. Your responsibilities will include:

Investigating, managing and responding to privacy complaints, data breaches and incidents, implementing appropriate corrective actions where required.

Conducting Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and identifying privacy risks associated with technology systems, applications, AI initiatives and other business projects.

Partnering with stakeholders across Digital, Cyber Security, Data Governance, Risk and other business functions to embed privacy by design into new initiatives.

Providing practical, risk-based advice on complex privacy matters to support informed business decision-making.

Monitoring developments in Commonwealth and State privacy legislation and advising on regulatory changes and compliance obligations.

Assisting the Chief Privacy Officer with governance activities, reporting obligations, policy development and continuous improvement initiatives.

Developing and delivering engaging privacy training, education and awareness programs for staff and stakeholders.
About You
You're an experienced privacy professional who enjoys solving complex problems, building trusted relationships and translating legislation into practical business outcomes.
You'll bring:

At least three years' experience in privacy, information governance or a related discipline.

Demonstrated experience identifying and assessing privacy risks, conducting Privacy Impact Assessments and managing privacy incidents or data breaches.

Strong working knowledge of Australian Commonwealth and State privacy legislation and its practical application.

Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams such as Digital, Cyber Security, Risk, Legal or Data Governance.

Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and relationship management skills.

Strong attention to detail, sound judgement and a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach.

The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a high-performing team.
You'll also stand out if you have:

Experience within the healthcare sector or another highly regulated industry.

Admission as a solicitor to the Supreme Court of an Australian State or Territory.

Experience assessing privacy risks associated with the deployment and use of AI systems.

Knowledge of information security and data governance principles.

Experience designing and delivering privacy education and training programs.
