The role:
We’re looking for a Manager of Client IT Engineering Services to lead our team of engineering consultants (ITS Engineers) across cloud, infrastructure, security, networking, and modern workplace services. This role combines people leadership, technical credibility, customer engagement, and commercial responsibility.
You’ll lead a team of skilled engineers, helping them deliver exceptional outcomes for customers while maintaining strong utilisation, delivery quality, and team capability. You'll act as a senior escalation point for complex engagements, partner with customers as a trusted advisor, and stay close enough to the work to provide leadership where it matters most.
Working closely with Sales, Presales, Delivery, and Managed Services teams, you'll help identify opportunities within existing customers, improve how the team delivers, and contribute to the ongoing growth and profitability of the practice. Success in this role comes from balancing strong engineering leadership with commercial awareness and customer focus.
This is a people-centric leadership role suited to someone who enjoys building high-performing teams, solving customer challenges, improving delivery outcomes, and helping shape the future direction of a growing engineering practice.
This role is flexible on location across Australia, with Melbourne preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of field engineering consultants across cloud, infrastructure, security, networking, and modern workplace services.
- Act as a senior technical escalation point for complex customer engagements, major incidents, and architectural challenges.
- Build trusted advisor relationships with customers, leading conversations around technology strategy, risk, security, and continual improvement.
- Drive utilisation, workforce planning, and WIP management to ensure strong team performance and commercial outcomes.
- Own delivery quality and customer outcomes, ensuring engagements are delivered consistently and efficiently.
- Partner closely with Sales, Presales, Managed Services, and Project Services teams to identify and progress opportunities across existing customers.
- Help shape and grow the practice through capability uplift, service innovation, and repeatable packaged offerings.
- Turn repeatable customer work into scalable solutions, playbooks, and service offerings.
- Coach the team to become more proactive, customer-focused, and commercially aware while maintaining strong technical standards.
- Drive continuous improvement through automation, platform engineering practices, and modern delivery approaches, including AI-enabled workflows.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders across customer organisations, from technical teams through to senior leaders.
What skills and experience you bring
- Proven experience leading technical delivery, engineering, consulting, or managed services teams within an MSP, IT services, or similar environment.
- Strong people leadership skills, with experience developing capability, improving performance, and building high-performing teams.
- Broad knowledge across infrastructure, cloud, networking, security, modern workplace, and data protection, with demonstrable depth in at least two areas.
- Experience managing utilisation, WIP, forecasting, resource planning, and commercial performance within a services environment.
- Strong customer engagement skills with the ability to influence, challenge, and advise customers at both technical and business levels.
- Demonstrated experience identifying opportunities within customer environments and helping grow services through trusted relationships.
- Ability to work effectively across Sales, Presales, Delivery, and Engineering teams to achieve strong customer outcomes.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of utilisation, margin, pricing, and profitability within a services business.
- Experience driving automation, standardisation, and modern engineering practices to improve quality and efficiency.
- Security-first mindset with knowledge of Essential Eight, Zero Trust, identity-led security, or regulated delivery environments.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical complexity into practical business outcomes.
- Willingness to travel and engage directly with customers when required.
Note: As part of our hiring process, you will be required to undertake a National Criminal History Check
