The role:
We’re looking for a Head of Managed IT Services to lead and grow our Managed IT Services practice — combining the mindset of a business owner with the credibility of a senior consultant.
In this role, you’ll split your time between acting as a trusted advisor to customers and driving the growth of the practice. You’ll work directly with customers on IT strategy, risk, and improvement while proactively identifying opportunities within existing accounts and increasing utilisation.
You’ll partner with account teams, solution architects, and service delivery to uncover demand, influence decision-making, and turn insight into action. Success comes from aligning teams, challenging customers where needed, and consistently expanding the value we deliver.
This is a people‑centric, commercially driven role suited to someone proactive, energetic, and hungry to build. You don’t need to be a traditional salesperson, but you do need to think commercially and take ownership of growth.
This role is flexible on location across Australia, with Melbourne preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a senior trusted advisor to key customers, leading strategic conversations around IT services, risk, and continual improvement.
- Proactively identify, shape, and pursue opportunities within existing customers, turning insight into tangible outcomes and revenue.
- Partner closely with account teams, solution architects, and delivery leads to uncover demand and align on customer opportunities.
- Influence customer decision-making by clearly articulating value and challenging them where gaps or risks exist.
- Balance hands‑on consulting with ownership of business outcomes, contributing directly to both delivery and growth.
- Drive utilisation across the Managed IT Services team, ensuring strong performance and commercial outcomes.
- Take accountability for the growth and profitability of the practice, with a focus on scaling revenue over time.
- Coach and uplift the team to become more commercially aware and consultative, helping them identify and generate additional work.
- Work with service delivery teams to ensure high‑quality outcomes while continuously uncovering further value for customers.
- Build strong, lasting relationships with stakeholders across customer organisations, from technical teams to business leaders.
What skills and experience you bring:
- Strong commercial mindset with the ability to think and operate like a business owner.
- Proven experience in a senior consulting, lead architect, or practice leadership role within IT services or a similar environment.
- Demonstrated ability to grow a services portfolio or business, with accountability for revenue, utilisation, and profitability.
- A proactive, high‑energy approach — you naturally look for opportunities, take ownership, and follow through.
- Strong ability to influence and lead customer conversations, guiding them towards investment and action without being a traditional salesperson.
- Experience working across existing customer environments to identify needs, shape opportunities, and drive outcomes.
- Solid understanding of managed services or service-led environments, even if not directly from an MSP or SI background.
- Ability to bring together and influence internal teams (account, architecture, delivery) to achieve the best customer outcomes.
- Strong communication skills, able to translate technical or operational challenges into clear, business‑focused recommendations.
- A people‑first mindset, you enjoy mentoring others and helping uplift consulting capability across a team.
- Willingness to travel and engage directly with customers to build long‑term relationships and grow the business.
Note: As part of our hiring process, you will be required to undertake a National Criminal History Check
