We are seeking an experienced Technical Design Manager to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a high-performing technical team delivering design solutions across the agri- industrial and commercial agri sector.
About the Role
Reporting to the General Manager, the Technical Design Manager is responsible for the technical design leadership of design and construction projects within the grain handling & storage and materials handling industries.
The role ensures the development and delivery of safe, efficient, and cost-effective technical solutions from initial concept design through to commissioning and handover, with a strong focus on mechanical systems, specialist equipment procurement, and value engineering.
Key Responsibilities
Lead concept and detailed design for grain handling, processing, and storage facilities.
Provide multidisciplinary engineering leadership across mechanical and process disciplines.
Review and approve technical drawings, specifications, and design documentation.
Ensure compliance with relevant standards, codes, and client requirements.
Lead technical specification and selection of mechanical equipment.
Evaluate supplier proposals for performance, compliance, and lifecycle value.
Manage design delivery from concept through to commissioning.
Coordinate design outputs with project schedules and construction
Drive value engineering to improve constructability, reduce cost, and enhance performance.
Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, constructability, and risk workshops.
Support commissioning, troubleshooting, and operational readiness.
About You
Degree qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in design and construction of industrial, bulk materials handling, or grain processing projects.
Demonstrated experience in a Design Manager, Technical Manager, Engineering Manager, or similar leadership role.
Strong experience delivering projects within agriculture, mining, resources, industrial, manufacturing, or heavy engineering environments.
Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Sound understanding of engineering design governance, risk management, and quality assurance.
