Disability Support Workers – We’re Looking for the Right People, Not Just More People
Care by Phoenix – Registered NDIS Provider
Wynnum | Redlands | Greater Brisbane & Surrounds
Casual | $35.55 – $46.70 per hour
Care by Phoenix is growing, and we’re looking for genuine, reliable and passionate Disability Support Workers to join our team.
We’re a boutique NDIS provider based in Wynnum, supporting people across the Redlands, Bayside, Greater Brisbane and surrounding areas.
And while experience and qualifications are important, the person behind them matters just as much to us.
We’re looking for people who actually want to work in disability support — people who understand that great support isn't about doing everything for someone. It's about working with them, building their confidence, supporting their independence and helping them work towards the life and goals that matter to them.
What we're looking for
You might be a great fit for Care by Phoenix if you:
- Genuinely enjoy working with people
- Are reliable and actually turn up when you say you will
- Are patient, friendly and able to have a laugh
- Understand professional boundaries and take your responsibilities seriously
- Can encourage independence rather than automatically taking over
- Are comfortable supporting people in their homes and out in the community
- Can communicate professionally with participants, families and your team
- Can write clear and meaningful shift notes
- Are willing to learn, take feedback and complete ongoing training
- Understand that every participant is different — and support should be too
- Want a role where the work you do genuinely matters
What does the role involve?
No two shifts are exactly the same.
Depending on the participant you're supporting, your day could include:
- Community access and social activities
- Supporting participants to attend appointments
- Developing daily living and independent living skills
- Meal preparation and household activities with the participant
- Supporting participants to work towards their NDIS goals
- Building confidence and community connections
- Providing personal care where required
- Supporting participants during respite or community-based activities
- Providing consistent, person-centred support
- Completing accurate shift notes and required documentation
We don't expect every worker to suit every participant. Matching the right worker with the right person matters to us.
The non-negotiables
Before commencing work, you will need:
- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
- Working with Children Check / Blue Card
- Current Australian Driver Licence
- Your own reliable, registered and comprehensively insured vehicle
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Current CPR Certificate
- NDIS Worker Orientation Modules
- Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent qualification, or willingness to obtain one
- Australian working rights
Additional disability, behaviour support, mental health, medication, epilepsy or other relevant training will be highly regarded.
Why Care by Phoenix?
We're not a huge organisation where you're just another name on a roster.
We're a hands-on, locally based team that values good workers, good communication and genuinely good support.
We want Support Workers who take pride in what they do, build appropriate and meaningful relationships with participants, work well as part of a team and understand the responsibility that comes with supporting another person.
In return, you'll have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of participants, build your skills through ongoing training and be part of a team that genuinely cares about the quality of the supports we provide.
Think you might be our kind of person?
We'd love to hear from you.
Please submit your resume AND a short cover letter to [email protected] telling us:
- Why you want to work in disability support
- What you think makes a genuinely great Support Worker
- Your general availability, including whether you are available for evenings, weekends and/or sleepover shifts
- What suburb you are based in and the areas you are willing to travel to for shifts
Applications without this information may not progress to the next stage.
We'd much rather receive 20 applications from people who genuinely want to do this work than 200 generic applications.
Young males are strongly encouraged to apply, as we currently have participants seeking age and gender-appropriate support worker matches.
