Bring Your Admin Skills to Governance
When you hear the word "governance," do you think of boardrooms and legal documents?
At Federation Council, governance supports the organisation behind the scenes so that together, we can deliver for our community.
Here is the secret: We don’t need a legal scholar or governance specialist. We need a super-organised, detail-loving, administrative genius who knows how to communicate effectively. If this is you, we will gladly teach you the rest.
Why Choose Federation Council?
This is more than a job; it’s a role designed to help you grow professionally. Federation Council is where you get to work alongside incredible, passionate professionals and be mentored by talented leaders every single day.
The value you get back from this role is immense. Local Government offers a massive, diverse scope of services, meaning the capacity to grow your skills, broaden your capabilities, and fast-track your market value is unmatched. We are fully invested in building your career, providing top tier on the job support, and opening up exciting new pathways for your future.
A Day in the Life
Imagine a day like this:
8.30am - Arrive at Corowa Civic Centre to start your day.
9am - You log into Pulse (our internal system) to update the policy register. You’ve noticed a checklist template that could be streamlined, so you note down a few ideas to make life easier for the whole team - innovation starts with you!
11am - Your phone rings, it’s a local volunteer from a Section 355 Committee. They need help getting their new members inducted. Thanks to your energy, patience, and clear communication, they’re set up, trained, and ready to make a difference in the community.
1pm - Time to crack a mini-mystery! You receive an informal "Access to Information" request from a resident wanting to contact a neighbour. You review the request ensuring it complies with the privacy policy and council guidelines. From there, you draft a clear, professional email response and ensure all correspondence and relevant records are securely saved to Content Manager (our Records Management System).
3pm - You sit down with the team to bounce ideas around for rolling out "Right to Know Week". You're drafting creative intranet updates and staff emails to get everyone on the same page.
No two days are the same, and while priorities can shift, you leave knowing you've made a tangible impact!
What You Bring to the Table
You are the kind of person who gets a strange amount of satisfaction from a perfectly organised spreadsheet. You're also a people person who loves helping others succeed.
It would be great if you had…
A Certificate III in Business Administration (or equivalent) and/or solid, practical experience in a corporate or admin environment.
An ability to draft detailed, grammatically spot-on correspondence and chat effortlessly with a diverse range of individuals.
