We are seeking an experienced Senior Geologist - Resources to join our Kalgoorlie Operations Teams based at Kanowna Belle and South Kalgoorlie Operations. This is a site based residential (5:2/4:3) or Fly- in fly-out role 8/6 or 4/3 (12-hour days) roster - we are open to discuss what best works for you and your work life balance.
Here's what awaits you:
- Develop and maintain robust geological and estimation workflows, ensuring compliance with Northern Star standards and industry best practice.
- Provide technical leadership & coaching in geological modelling, domaining, grade estimation and resource classification.
- Identify and drive Resource growth opportunities through infill and extensional drilling programs.
- Design, review and optimise Resource definition drilling programs to maximise geological confidence and value.
- Ensure geological databases, QA/QC systems and data validation processes maintain the highest level of integrity.
- Conduct geological interpretations and three-dimensional modelling using industry-standard software (Leapfrog, Datamine)
- Monitor and analyse reconciliation between Resource models, grade control and production performance to identify improvement opportunities.
- Contribute to strategic exploration targeting and long-term resource development initiatives.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, consultants and external auditors to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and statutory obligations while promoting Northern Star's safety culture.
- Support due diligence activities, technical reviews and acquisition assessments where required.
To thrive in this role, you'll need:
Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years' mining industry experience, predominantly in gold
- Open pit and underground operational experience, including senior-level responsibilities.
- Demonstrated expertise in QA/QC, drill programs, reconciliation, resource estimation, orebody interpretation, geological and estimation modelling, and applied geostatistics.
- Highly competent with Datamine (including macros), Leapfrog, and similar software, with strong problem-solving, communication, decision-making, report writing and presentation skills.
- Willing to develop and mentor up and coming geologists in the resource and project geologist space
Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in Geology (preferably Honours), current Unencumbered Western Australian "C" Class Drivers Licence, able to work independently and as part of a team.
