Full-time temporary role initially, with a pathway to ongoing full-time employment
AE Consulting is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer / Team Lead for a Sydney, NSW-based position. The role will commence as a full-time temporary appointment, with a genuine opportunity to transition to an ongoing full-time role for the right person, subject to performance and business needs.
This is a senior role for an engineer with strong Australian structural engineering consulting experience who can lead projects, manage and mentor a team, and communicate effectively with clients, architects, builders and other consultants. You will bring strong technical capability in structural steel and reinforced-concrete design, together with the confidence to take ownership of project delivery, design quality and client relationships.
Key responsibilities
- Lead structural engineering projects from concept through to detailed design, documentation and construction support.
- Undertake and review structural analysis and design, with particular focus on structural steel and reinforced-concrete systems.
- Prepare and check calculations, reports, specifications and drawings.
- Manage project scope, programme, design quality and coordination with project stakeholders.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, architects, builders and other consultants.
- Lead meetings, present technical recommendations and resolve complex design and coordination issues.
- Manage, mentor and review the work of graduate and intermediate engineers.
- Support team development, technical standards and the efficient delivery of project work.
About you
To be successful, you will have significant Australian structural engineering consulting experience and a sound understanding of local construction practices, project delivery requirements and Australian Standards. You will have proven experience leading structural engineering projects and managing client and consultant relationships.
You will have strong technical experience in structural steel and reinforced-concrete design, including constructability and detailing considerations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is demonstrated leadership and people-management experience, including mentoring, delegating and reviewing the work of others.
Professional experience using RAPT, LIMCON and Inducta is required. Experience with other structural analysis, modelling or drafting software will be well regarded. A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is required. Chartered status, NER registration and/or RPEQ registration will be well regarded but is not essential.
