The role
As GM Safety & Assurance, you'll be responsible for leading safety, quality, environment, sustainability, and rail assurance across our light rail operations. This is an opportunity to influence how thousands of customers, employees, and contractors experience safety every day.
Reporting to the Managing Director, you and your team will be tasked with providing positive leadership across the business and initiating, developing and maintaining a safe environment for our people and customers. This will include working closely with our operational teams across all our sites, providing assistance and advice, facilitating safety audits / incident reviews, championing continuous improvement and closing out any corrective actions
The role provides extensive engagement with executive leadership, government agencies, regulators, consortium partners, contractors, and community stakeholders.
What you bring
In addition to tertiary qualifications (health, safety or related discipline) your background will take in extensive workplace health and safety management experience in large, complex, and regulated operational organisations (transport / infrastructure industry preferred). This will be supported by your rail safety accreditation knowledge and understanding of complex contractual arrangements with the operational phase of a Public Private Partnership. Given the nature of the role you will have the ability to influence change and foster a safety focused culture combined with the capability to exercise sound judgement in advising both staff and senior leaders.
