About Mataranka Homestead
Mataranka Homestead is a growing tourism and hospitality destination located in the heart of the Northern Territory. Our property includes accommodation facilities, guest amenities, hospitality venues, staff accommodation and tourism infrastructure that require ongoing maintenance, refurbishment and development.
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Carpenter and Joiner to join our team and assist with the maintenance, repair, construction and improvement of facilities across the Homestead.
About the Role
The Carpenter and Joiner will be responsible for carrying out a variety of carpentry, joinery, maintenance and construction tasks to support the ongoing operation and development of Mataranka Homestead.
This is a hands-on role suited to a qualified tradesperson who enjoys working independently and contributing to a diverse range of projects in a unique remote environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Construct, install and repair timber structures and fixtures.
- Undertake maintenance and refurbishment of accommodation units, buildings and guest facilities.
- Install doors, windows, cabinetry, flooring and internal fit-outs.
- Build and repair furniture, decking, pergolas, fencing and outdoor structures.
- Read and interpret plans, drawings and specifications.
- Measure, cut, shape and assemble timber and other building materials.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance works.
- Coordinate materials and maintain workshop equipment.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant Australian Standards and building requirements.
- Maintain safe work practices and comply with Workplace Health and Safety requirements.
- Assist with general property maintenance and improvement projects as required.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Trade qualification as a Carpenter and Joiner or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years' post-trade experience.
- Strong knowledge of carpentry and joinery techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and plans.
- Experience using power tools and woodworking equipment.
- Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
- Current Australian Driver Licence.
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
Desirable
- Experience working in tourism, hospitality or accommodation facilities.
- Experience in remote or regional locations.
- White Card.
- Forklift Licence.
- First Aid Certificate.
- Experience in general building maintenance and repairs.
