Coordinator - Resource Recovery Operations

Greater Shepparton City Council has an exciting opportunity for an organised and proactive Coordinator – Resource Recovery Operations to oversee the day to day delivery of municipal waste services. In this role, you will coordinate Resource Recovery Centres and landfill operations to ensure safe, efficient, compliant, and community-focused service delivery.
The role requires sound knowledge of EPA regulations, waste processing and recycling practices, and strong capability in managing operational risks and compliance obligations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinating daily operations of waste, recycling and organics collections, Resource Recovery Centres, and landfill services in line with EPA requirements and environmental best practice.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant environmental legislation, including EPA standards, and maintaining a high level of knowledge in waste processing, recycling systems, and resource recovery initiatives.
- Coordinating internal waste services such as the nappy collection program, illegal dumping response, and other community waste initiatives.
- Supervising and supporting operational staff, promoting a positive team culture and ensuring performance expectations are met.
- Managing contractor performance, including monitoring service delivery, compliance, and continuous improvement outcomes.
- Ensuring all operations are undertaken in compliance with Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) and WorkSafe regulations, promoting a strong safety-first culture.
- Utilising Microsoft Office applications (including Excel, Word, and Outlook) to manage reporting, data tracking, and operational documentation.
The successful applicant will bring strong coordination and organisational skills, demonstrated experience in staff supervision, and the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with contractors, regulators, and the community. A practical understanding of waste operations, environmental compliance, and safe work practices will be essential to success in this role.
