A Retail Sales Assistant is responsible for providing excellent customer service, assisting customers with product selection, processing sales transactions, and ensuring the store is clean, organized, and well-stocked. They play a key role in creating a positive shopping experience while helping the business achieve its sales goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Assist customers in finding products and making purchasing decisions.
- Provide accurate information about products, promotions, and store policies.
- Operate the cash register and process cash, card, and digital payments.
- Handle returns, exchanges, and customer inquiries according to company procedures.
- Restock shelves and maintain attractive product displays.
- Monitor inventory levels and report low stock to management.
- Keep the sales floor, fitting rooms, and stock areas clean and organized.
- Assist with receiving and unpacking deliveries.
- Meet individual and team sales targets where applicable.
- Follow company policies, health and safety regulations, and security procedures.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Previous retail or customer service experience is an advantage but not essential.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Friendly, positive, and customer-focused attitude.
- Basic numeracy and cash-handling skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift light to moderate items.
- Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and public holidays as required.
