About Us
NKB Arena is one of Western Australia’s premier badminton facilities, dedicated to promoting participation, player development and excellence in badminton. Through our NKB Academy, we deliver structured badminton development programs for junior, youth and adult participants, while working closely with schools, community organisations and sporting bodies to encourage greater participation in the sport.
As our Academy continues to expand, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Sports Development Officer to coordinate and enhance our sports development initiatives, strengthen community engagement and support the ongoing growth of badminton participation across Western Australia.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a proactive and organised Sports Development Officer to plan, coordinate and deliver sports development initiatives that support participation, athlete development and community engagement through the NKB Academy. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with coaches, schools, sporting organisations, community groups and other stakeholders to develop sustainable badminton participation programs and strengthen development pathways for players of all ages and abilities.
Key Responsibilities
● Develop, implement and evaluate badminton participation and sports development programs across the NKB Academy.● Coordinate junior, youth and adult participation initiatives designed to increase community involvement in badminton.● Build and maintain partnerships with schools, community organisations, sporting associations and local stakeholders to expand participation opportunities.● Plan and coordinate sports development projects, training camps, community clinics and promotional events.● Develop strategies to encourage inclusive participation among people of diverse ages, backgrounds and abilities.● Coordinate athlete development pathways from introductory participation through to advanced performance programs.● Monitor participation levels, collect program data and prepare reports to evaluate program effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.● Assist in developing funding applications, sponsorship proposals and community partnership initiatives to support Academy programs.● Coordinate the scheduling of sports development activities, facilities and program resources.● Liaise with coaches and Academy staff to ensure the effective delivery of development programs and participant support services.● Promote the Academy's programs through community engagement activities and marketing initiatives.● Assist with the planning and delivery of badminton tournaments, school competitions, participation events and community outreach activities.● Ensure all programs comply with organisational policies, relevant sporting regulations and workplace health and safety requirements.● Maintain positive relationships with participants, parents, schools, sporting organisations and community stakeholders.● Stay informed of current trends and best practices in sports development to continuously improve Academy programs.
About You – Essential Requirements
● Bachelor Degree or higher qualification in Sport Development, Sports Management, Physical Education, Exercise and Sport Science, Recreation Management or a closely related discipline.● At least three (3) years of relevant post-qualification experience in sports development, community sport, sports program coordination or recreation management.● Demonstrated experience in developing and coordinating community participation or athlete development programs.● Strong understanding of sports development principles, community engagement and participant pathway programs.● Experience working collaboratively with schools, sporting organisations, community groups and other stakeholders.● Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills.● Ability to coordinate multiple programs and projects while meeting deadlines.● Strong administrative, reporting and project management capabilities.● Current Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).● Current First Aid Certificate (desirable).
