Coffee & Kitchen East is looking for a motivated first- or second-year Apprentice Chef to join our kitchen team in a full-time position.
This is a great opportunity for someone who genuinely enjoys cooking, wants to develop strong commercial kitchen skills and is ready to build a long-term career in hospitality.
About the role
Working alongside our experienced kitchen team, you will receive practical, hands-on training while completing your Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.
Your duties will include:
- Preparing and cooking café meals
- Assisting with breakfast and lunch service
- Food preparation, portioning and presentation
- Following recipes and maintaining consistent quality
- Receiving and correctly storing food deliveries
- Stock rotation and minimising food waste
- Maintaining excellent food safety and hygiene standards
- Cleaning and organising kitchen equipment and work areas
- Supporting the kitchen team during busy services
We’re looking for someone who:
- Is currently a first- or second-year apprentice, or is ready to begin a commercial cookery apprenticeship
- Has a genuine interest in food and cooking
- Is reliable, punctual and willing to learn
- Can remain calm and organised in a busy café kitchen
- Takes pride in cleanliness, presentation and quality
- Communicates well and works positively as part of a team
- Is available for early starts and weekend work
- Has reliable transport to East Ballina
Previous kitchen experience is helpful but not essential for a first-year applicant. The right attitude, reliability and willingness to learn are most important.
