NHVR is seeking a Payroll Lead who will provide effective management of the NHVR payroll function to ensure consistency and accuracy of employee pay and timely resolution of payroll related matters.
The small team is well established in the organization with a high performance and accurate track record for payroll processing. This role is perfect for a hands-on leader and payroll subject matter expert who can lead a small team, take ownership of complex issues, and provide proactive communication on payroll impacts. Some of the key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Own the accuracy of payroll outcomes, ensuring employees are paid correctly in line with their industrial instruments.
- Act as the escalation point for payroll team members responsible for processing pay runs each pay period.
- Oversee, lead and direct payroll team members in the performance and conduct of their roles, including developing performance plans, maintaining an operating rhythm, setting role clarity and expectations for a successful team member
- In conjunction with the payroll team, take ownership of payroll issue resolution.
- Clarify payroll related Agreement queries with the Employee Relations Lead.
- Liaise with the NHVR’s payroll provider to resolve system defects.
- Ensure that NHVR payroll awards are up to date with Enterprise Agreement and legislation changes.
- Develop and maintain payroll work procedures to improve processing efficiencies and effectiveness.

This role requires the ideal candidate to lead, manage and own the end-to-end payroll functions and be involved in systems and payroll projects. If this is the right role for you, your skills and qualifications may include:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field desired but not required.
- Performed a payroll award build or reconfiguration, including: Support user acceptance training (UAT), support a payroll build for a new Enterprise Agreement, provide training and education on system functionality and processes.
- Experience in interpreting Awards or Enterprise Agreements.
- Understanding of reporting and resolving system issues.
