Optical Assistant / Dispenser (Full or Part Time)

We’re looking for a friendly and organised Optical Assistant / Dispenser to join our supportive team in Milton.
This is a varied role across reception, patient care, eyewear styling, and clinical support within a long-established independent optometry practice.
Whether you already work in optics, come from medical reception, healthcare, or fashion retail, or are looking to return to the workforce, this could be a great opportunity to build new skills in a welcoming environment.
On-the-job training and support will be provided for someone eager to learn and grow within the optical industry.
What You’ll Be Doing
This is a varied, hands-on role where you’ll work across both the retail and clinical sides of the practice alongside a supportive team.
Your day may include:

Helping patients choose frames and eyewear

Assisting with lens recommendations and dispensing

Reception and appointment coordination

Pre-testing, imaging and visual fields
-
Contact lens support and patient care

Assisting with stock management and day-to-day practice operations
No two days are exactly the same, making this a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety and learning new skills.
About You

Previous experience in an optical, ophthalmic, medical reception, healthcare, fashion retail or customer service environment is highly regarded, though not essential

You enjoy working with people and building rapport

You’re organised, reliable and eager to learn

You have strong attention to detail and a positive attitude

You’re comfortable working across both customer service and administrative tasks

Experience with Optomate is helpful, but not essential
