Islander or Kiwi Experienced Disability Support Worker – Active & Community-Focused
Favourhill Care is seeking an experienced, reliable and energetic Disability Support Worker to join a participant’s support team in a long-term, consistent position in Dakabin, QLD.
This role would suit someone who is active, confident, creative and community-minded, and who enjoys supporting a young person to get out into the community, try new activities, build confidence and maintain an active lifestyle.

About the Role
You will provide person-centred support and encourage the participant to:
- Participate in community activities and outings
- Stay active, engaged and connected with the community
- Develop independence, confidence and life skills
- Enjoy recreational and outdoor activities
- Build positive routines and relationships
- Participate in activities such as biking, scooter riding, trampolining and theme parks
- Attend church and other community activities
- Explore new interests and develop confidence through positive experiences
The participant also has large dogs, so applicants must be comfortable and confident working around dogs.
About the Participant & Support Needs
The participant is a young teenager diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (Level 2) and ADHD. Support needs include communication, social interaction, sensory processing, emotional regulation and developmental skills.
The successful Support Worker will provide patient, consistent and structured support, while encouraging independence, confidence, communication and participation in the community.
Experience supporting people with Autism, ADHD, communication needs, sensory processing differences or emotional regulation needs is highly regarded.
Experience in education, youth work, community support or a related field will also be considered an advantage.
Available Shifts
- Monday: 2:30 PM – 8:00 PM
- Tuesday: 2:30 PM – 7:30 PM
- Thursday: 2:30 PM – 7:00 PM
- Saturday: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM (alternating Saturdays)
- Sunday: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM (consistent Sunday availability preferred)
Wednesday and Friday are currently unavailable.
Applicants who can commit consistently to Saturday and Sunday shifts are strongly encouraged to apply.

- Experienced in disability support, youth work, education or a related field
- Kiwi or Islander
- Physically capable of providing active support
- Energetic, sporty and enjoys outdoor and recreational activities
- Confident and comfortable around large dogs
- Creative and able to suggest fun, age-appropriate and engaging activities
- Confident supporting community participation
- Reliable, punctual and consistent
- A strong and respectful communicator
- Professional and able to maintain appropriate boundaries
- Patient, calm, respectful and non-judgemental
- Passionate about helping young people achieve their goals
- Comfortable supporting participation in church and other community activities
- Able to build a positive, trusting and professional relationship with the participant and their family
