We are currently seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join our team at SCT for a fixed term 6 - 9 month parental leave cover. This position is located at our VIC Altona office within the Finance department at our Head Office. As a key member of the finance team, the Management Accountant will play a crucial role in supporting the company's financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare financial reports, budgets, and forecasts to aid in decision-making processes.
- Conduct variance analysis and provide insightful explanations for any discrepancies.
- Assist in month-end and year-end close processes, including accruals and prepayments.
- Analyse financial data and performance against KPIs to identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives and provide financial guidance.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations and internal policies.
- Participate in the development and implementation of efficient financial processes and controls.
- Contribute to ad-hoc projects as required by senior management or stakeholders.
Main Tasks
The Management Accountant will be responsible for:
- Preparing weekly and monthly management accounts, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Assisting with annual budgeting processes by gathering relevant data and providing financial analysis to support decision-making.
- Maintaining accurate cost accounting records and conducting regular cost analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Liaising with external auditors during annual audits to facilitate a smooth audit process.
- Serving as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders regarding financial matters, offering insights into performance trends and potential risks or opportunities.

Desired Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
Qualifications
- Essential: Bachelor or University qualification in Accounting or similar discipline
- Desirable: Qualification as a full member to one of the Accounting or management professional bodies and or other appropriate certificates or diplomas in management
Professional Experience
- A proven track record in building internal and external relationships
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role (Previous experience & knowledge in logistics is desirable)
- Skillset to develop costing models to analyse operational activities
- Implementing processes and procedures to achieve more efficient and effective outcomes
Skills
- Sound commercial awareness and knowledge of business strategies to continuously improve
- Ability to interpret financial information and articulate these to non-financial specialists
- Sound knowledge of the Microsoft suite of products. Experience with SAP is also an advantage
