About this position
Do you enjoy working outdoors and take pride in maintaining high-quality parks and public spaces? The Parks and Environment branch is seeking a motivated and reliable General Hand - Parks Operations to join the team.
In this role, you will help enhance the City's parks, reserves, sports grounds and public open spaces through turf and garden care and the safe operation of plant and machinery. Working as part of a dedicated team, you will contribute to creating attractive, safe and well-maintained spaces for the community to enjoy.
What we are looking for
To be successful, you must be able to demonstrate:

Experience in parks maintenance, horticulture or a related field

The ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team

An understanding of the challenges involved in delivering high quality and consistent public open space outcomes

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff and customers

A solid work ethic, positive attitude and commitment to delivering quality outcomes

The ability to safely operate plant and equipment relevant to parks maintenance
Essential requirements

Current MR driver's licence

White Card
-
National Police Clearance (no more than three months old). Please note: This is not essential to apply for the role but will be required at a later stage as it is an appointment condition.

Certificate III or higher in Horticulture (or equivalent) - essential for appointment at Level 5
Desirable requirements

Forklift / Loader / Excavator tickets
