The Senior Director, Compliance Frameworks reports directly to the Chief Compliance Officer. This pivotal leadership role improves and leads Optus' enterprise compliance management framework. You will drive consistent, scalable compliance standards across all business units, maintaining robust governance, control, monitoring, and reporting arrangements. As a key member of the Compliance leadership team, you'll work with second-line functions across the organisation. You will ensure regulatory adherence requirements are clearly defined, detailed, and maintained continuously.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the enterprise-wide development and rollout of the regulatory framework, embedding consistent standards and driving substantial compliance uplift across Optus
- Partner with senior business leaders and second-line teams to supervise, assess, and report on compliance with regulatory requirements — including supporting remediation activities under the Enforceable Undertaking
- Develop and prepare clear compliance reporting for senior management, Exco, Board, and external regulators, ensuring insights are actionable and commercially grounded
- Be responsible for the development of compliance documentation including policies, procedures, training materials, and supporting artefacts, while championing a strong compliance culture across the business
- Collaborate with team members in Regulatory, Risk, and Internal Audit to identify, monitor, and remediate compliance risks. Contribute to selecting and implementing a Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) system or similar.
What You Bring
- A graduate degree or equivalent experience in Commerce, Economics, Finance, Law, or a related field is required. Candidates should have 5–8 years of demonstrated ability specializing in governance and regulatory adherence within a highly regulated environment. industry
- Proven experience leading compliance obligations under the Competition and Consumer Act, with a consistent track record in writing policies and procedures to meet compliance requirements
- Hands-on experience implementing oversight and compliance frameworks in line with ISO31000, ISO19600, and other enterprise-level frameworks, including Line 1 risk and compliance capability
- Outstanding collaborator management, communication, and report writing skills — capable of influencing at all levels while balancing a risk outlook with pragmatic, commercially viable advice e
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, capable of translating complex regulatory requirements into practical business solutions and driving continuous improvement across compliance frameworks
