Due to continued growth, we are seeking experienced Mobile Plant Operators to join our Melbourne West operations.
About the Role
As a Mobile Plant Operator, you will safely operate specialised vegetation management equipment to perform roadside mowing, slashing, spraying, and grounds maintenance across highways, road reserves, commercial properties, and public infrastructure. You will ensure equipment is operated safely, efficiently, and in accordance with client specifications and workplace safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily pre-start inspections of machinery and attachments.
- Operate tractors, front deck mowers, slashers, flail mowers, and spraying equipment.
- Perform roadside mowing, slashing, vegetation management, and grounds maintenance.
- Operate machinery safely around roadside infrastructure including guardrails, signs, barriers, drains, and utilities.
- Set up and adjust machinery attachments to suit site conditions and work requirements.
- Monitor machinery performance and report faults or maintenance requirements.
- Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of plant and equipment.
- Identify workplace hazards before commencing work and follow safe work procedures.
- Complete inspection records, maintenance logs, and job documentation accurately.
- Follow Traffic Management Plans (TMPs), environmental requirements, and company procedures at all times.
- Protect native vegetation, waterways, and environmentally sensitive areas during operations.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team to deliver high-quality outcomes.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Minimum 1 year of experience operating tractors, front deck mowers, or similar mobile plant.
- Experience in mowing, slashing, spraying, or grounds maintenance.
- Sound understanding of machinery pre-start inspections and equipment safety.
- Ability to identify basic mechanical issues and report maintenance requirements.
- Commitment to workplace health, safety, and environmental compliance.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable work ethic with the ability to work independently.
- Current driver's licence (preferred).
