Interested in becoming a TAFE teacher?
If you haven't yet completed your Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE), this program offers a unique pathway.
Make a career change: combine your industry expertise with the opportunity to gain your TAE qualification, all while being employed and training to teach at TAFE.
The Quality TAFE Teacher Program supports industry professionals transitioning into teaching by offering employment at Chisholm while completing a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
This program includes:
- Full-time employment

A fixed-term 12-month contract

Structured support to develop your skills as a TAFE teacher.
How does it work?
If you're accepted into the program, you'll begin working at Chisholm while completing your Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE). You will also undertake supervised work placement alongside Chisholm students or apprentices.
While the TAE qualification typically takes 9 months or more to complete, this tailored delivery model is designed to support you to begin teaching sooner.

To support your career transition, Chisholm provides:
- A dedicated mentor or supervisor

Cohort-based TAE delivery with like-minded peers

Supervised work placement within Chisholm

Practical teaching experience to build confidence and capability
Program delivery
- Commencement: 5 October 2026

Delivery mode: TAE delivery at the Frankston Campus, department-based work days arranged by the employing department

Salary: Determined based on industry experience and recruitment process
Program requirements and eligibility
To be eligible, you must:
- Be an industry professional or qualified tradesperson in a priority area

Have at least 3 years of industry experience

Be an Australian citizen or have the right to work in Australia

Provide a National Police Check

Provide a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC)
