Yarra Trams is seeking to engage a new Tram Maintainer (Fitter & Turner) based out of our Camberwell Depot. In this position, you’ll play a vital role in the safe, reliable operation of our tram fleet and depot equipment. Working in a collaborative team, you’ll perform planned maintenance, diagnostics and repairs across mechanical and electrical systems—so our trams stay on the network and our passengers get where they need to be.
About the role:
Reporting into our Production Supervisor, Rolling Stock Maintenance, this role will:
Perform maintenance tasks of a reactive and preventative nature as allocated by the supervisor.
Identify non base trade related faults during inspection activities and depot servicing and advise supervisor so that appropriate resources can be allocated.
Document and sign off all tasks performed in accordance with the processes described in the Management system.
Provide advice on trade related issues as required.
About You:
In addition to possessing a Victorian Drivers licence with a clean driving record, the successful applicants to this position should be able to demonstrate:
Completion of an apprenticeship as a body maker, fitter & turner or other acceptable trade.
Interest to perform a wide range of functions that fit generally within the relevant trade qualification. The skills are used to perform reactive and preventative maintenance on trams.
Willing to undertake in house training relating to non-core trade activities and perform non-core trade activities required to undertake 2 weekly inspections and tram recovery activities.
An understanding of adherence to applicable quality procedures, work and operating instructions and other documentation defining the production, maintenance and servicing functions is a mandatory requirement. The incumbent would be required to display a knowledge and commitment to Quality Assurance and Rail Safety Standards and principles as they apply to the Depots
Willing to undertake further internal and external training and completion of a probation period performing cross trade and completion of module 1 and module 2 recovery training, if required.
Willing to assist and provide technical advice (Knowledge sharing) to other tradesmen, as well as direct the work of apprentices and more junior staff
